Field Trip: Structural Geology of the Fromberg and Bluewater Fault Zones South of Billings

Participants will examine outcrops and vistas along Duck Creek Road and observe structural relationships that show that these faults are normal faults most likely related to collapse of the basement-involved Bighorn/Pryor Mountains anticline. Oil and gas fields are set up by rollover anticlines that formed in the hanging walls of these faults.
