FAQ

Why would I want to be a member of MGS?

When you become an MGS member, you join a community of geologists, landmen, geophysicists, data consultants, and geology-enthusiasts who are eager to explore and share the best of Montana’s unique environment. As a member, you will have the opportunity to partake in MGS-sponsored luncheons, short courses, and field trips that educate our members on new ideas from across the region. In addition, you’ll have an opportunity to purchase MGS publications, view Road Logs of the area, and receive monthly newsletters that keep you up-to-date on the latest advancements and current events in our area.

Am I eligible to become a member?

Membership in the MGS is open to persons eligible for Membership, Associate Membership or Student Membership in the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG). But you need not be an AAPG member to apply.

Persons who do not qualify for eligibility may be accepted for membership at the discretion of the Board of Directors of the Society. Please contact the MGS for more information.

Does MGS accept student members?

Yes! MGS loves students! Students receive discounted membership rates (see Membership Application), free entrance to MGS Luncheons, and can apply for scholarships to attend MGS Short Courses.
